February 9, 2008 - Happy Anniversary!

Happy six year anniversary to my amazing wife! Time has flown by fast - we can't believe we've already been married for six years. We've been extremely blessed with six incredible years of marriage. We have had some wonderful opportunities and we look forward to many more.

We went and had an awesome dinner at the Spice Market in the Meatpacking District. The food was delicious (especially the shrimp and pineapple appetizer). After dinner we went and had a drink on the top penthouse floor of the Hotel Gansevoort. We finished up our night with one more drink at Tenjune, a trendy restaurant and bar that only lets certain people in. Fortunately, Jill was one of those people tonight and they let us inside.

We had a wonderful night as we celebrated and reminisced how great life has been for us during our marriage. Here's to many more incredible years together - I love you Jill!

February 5, 2008 - Super Bowl Parade

I took a couple hours off of work today to go with Jill to see the Giants Super Bowl Parade. It started downtown at Battery Park and proceeded up Broadway in the Financial District along the 'Canyon of Heroes'. It ended with a final rally at City Hall where the players spoke to their fans. The Canyon of Heroes refers to a section of New York City's lower Broadway and the Financial District that is the historic location of the city's ticker-tape parades. The route is lined with tall buildings allowing many office workers a nice view of the parade. The sidewalks along the Canyon of Heroes have black granite strips embedded within them listing honorees of past ticker-tape parades. Past ticker-tape parades include the Yankees each time they won the World Series, the astronauts from Apollo 11, and the soldiers returning from World War II.

The streets were line with hundreds of thousands of fans all decked out in their Giants gear. People were hanging out of their office windows throwing toilet paper and confetti all over the place. The players, a few to a float, came up Broadway cheering with their fans and filming the crowd. Eli Manning's float (along with Michael Strahan, Tom Coughlin, and Mayor Bloomberg) contained the Lombardi Trophy - everyone took their turns showing it off to the crowd.

We are so happy to have been able to be a part of this celebration. We loved every minute of it! Congratulations Giants, the 2008 Super Bowl Champions!

February 3, 2008 - The New York Giants are the Super Bowl Champions!

Wow, what a game! 17-14, Giants win the Super Bowl!!! We are so excited we can't even begin to describe it. We watched the game at our local favorite, Trinity Place. The defense was incredible - Jill said from the beginning that she thought they could do it if they went after Brady the whole night. And did they ever! He was on the ground more during this game than the entire year! And they never let up - they kept coming after him until the final seconds ticked off the clock - no Prevent Defense - none of that!

The play of the game was when Eli Manning barely got out of the sack and threw to David Tyree who had a spectacular catch against his helmet with about a minute left in the game! Burress caught the game winning touchdown with 35 seconds left, and this was not enough time for Brady and the Patriots to come back and tie it up.

What an incredible upset! This one will go down in history. The Giants just upset the only undefeated team in the NFL this year and ruined their chances of having a perfect 19-0 season. NYC was going crazy after the game - it is nothing but pure excitement up here. Congratulations G-Men!

February 2, 2008 - Bowling at Chelsea Piers

Jill, Lisa, Tim, and I went to Chelsea Piers for some bowling. This was on a Saturday night, so the wait was two hours! Thankfully, Lisa and Tim got there early and went ahead and put our names on the list.

Bowling here was like the cosmic bowling back in Birmingham - dark, loud music, videos on the screen, etc. So Lisa and Tim both bowl strikes on their very first turns. Both of them! So Jill and I quickly realize how this night is going to go - these guys are professionals! We shared a few pitchers of beer and this helped - I actually won a game before the night was over!

But the damage was done - four games of bowling and four pitchers of Hoegaarden - final bill - are you ready for this? $300! Welcome to NYC. I think we've had enough bowling for a while - our next game will be on the Wii! It was expensive, but all kidding aside, we all had a great time. We had a lot of fun with you guys!
